Sparring Classes
The practice of sparring for adult students begins at Level One with an introduction to Kickboxing and Grappling within the class. In Level Two, more forms of sparring such as point, continuous and padded weapons are included and are held on seperate weekly classes.
The practice of sparring for children and junior students begins at Level Two and are held on seperate weekly classes.
Students will do various kinds of sparring such as:

Continuous Sparring
These classes are designed to correspond with the students' current curriculum. They will effictively enhance their training and understanding with the martial arts
and are taught in a safe and positive environment.
Long Staff Sparring Learn the Bojutsu and Bugei techniques of the Long Staff.
Special padded long staffs will be used for these classes to train and better understand this kobudo weapon.
Various drills such as strikes, blocks and contact sparring will be presented
and the physical conditioning with the long staff will develop hand-eye coordination, improve balance and upper-body strength. |

Nunchucku Sparring Special padded nunchukus will be used
to train and better understand this kobudo weapon.
Learn exciting nunchuku skills, contact drills and participate in nunchuku sparring!
The practice of the nunchucku will develop hand-eye coordination, upper-body conditioning and increased concentration. |
Stick Sparring Rattan and padded sticks will be used
to train and better understand Kali and Arnis styles.
Learn beneficial stick defense skills, contact drills and the thrill of single and double stick sparring!
Some of the benefits of training with sticks are hand-eye coordination, footwork and reaction skills. |

Grappling Learn techniques from,
jujitsu, judo, shoot wrestling and more! Takedown, pin, reverse,
choke, and joint lock your partner. Emphasis will be placed on
application and sparring drills. Some of the benefits of grappling include self-defense, increased cardio and endurance, weight-loss and better awareness and understanding of your body. A heavyweight grappling uniform is available at the school,
but optional to wear. However, your regular full uniform (jacket and pants) is required. |
Kickboxing The
punches of Boxing, the kicks and combinations of American
Kickboxing and the knees and elbows of Muay Thai. Strap on your
boxing gloves and shin/instep pads and get ready to work!
Kickboxing is an excellent way to boost your cardio and endurance,
burn calories, increase your balance and flexibility and relieve stress.

Mixed Martial Art, Point & Continuous Sparring
Enhance your techniques, footwork and timing/reaction skills with Mixed Martial Art (MMA), Point & Continuous sparring.
It will also boost your endurance and cardio and help burn calories while improving balance,
coordination and flexibility. Full protective gear, according to your level, is required. |

Sparring Gear
Tong Moo Do carries fine quality sparring gear at a discounted price, as well as various equipment and clothing to fit all your martial art needs.
We can also special order products from our suppliers.
For safety reasons, the
purchase and use of approved sparring gear at various levels is mandatory.
Adult Students
Upon entering Level One, adult students must have boxing gloves and shin/instep pads. Upon entering Level Two, students must have a chest protector,
and all male students must have an athletic supporter. Upon entering Level Three, students must have Mixed Martial Art (MMA) gloves, head gear and mouth guard.
Children & Junior Students
Upon entering Level Two, children and junior students must have a sparring gloves, shin/instep pads, chest protector,
and all male students must have an athletic supporter. Upon entering Level Three, students must have head gear and mouth guard.
